Keywords: Construction innovation, Design flexibility, Waste reduction, 3D Printing

Abstract

This scoping review explores the role of 3D printing technology in the construction industry, focusing on its impact on design innovation and waste reduction. Covering research published between 2010 and 2024, this studysystematically maps existing literature to identify key trends and assess the practical implications of 3D printing in addressing material waste and design limitations. The review synthesises findings from peer-reviewed articles, industry reports, and case studies retrieved from databases such as Scopus. Expected findings include significant advancements in design flexibility and sustainability, as well as identifying research gaps and future directions. The insights provided will be valuable for construction professionals, researchers, and policymakers seeking to leverage 3D printing for improved construction practices.
